A TLR (Twin-Lens Reflex) camera has two lenses stacked on top of each other: one for taking the picture, and one for previewing the image in the viewfinder. The upper lens reflects the image onto a focusing screen, while the lower lens exposes the film.

With TLRs, you don't see the subject through the taking lens, but through a second, fixed lens. There is no flipping mirror – therefore, TLRs operate quietly and without vibration.

The focusing screen displays the image reversed. This is normal for TLRs, as the image is reflected by a mirror but not rotated. With a little practice, image composition can still be achieved intuitively.

Almost all TLRs use 120 roll film , which produces 6x6 cm images. This results in 12 images per roll. The film is still available and widely used today.

You place the roll of film in the lower chamber, pull the paper up to the mark, and then cock the shutter. A red window indicator or a counter shows when you are ready to take a picture.

Our used TLR cameras are manually inspected before sale and classified into the following condition categories:
- Good: Fully functional with normal signs of wear. Viewfinder image, film transport and shutter tested.
- Acceptable: Functional with significant signs of wear or slight limitations in operation.
- Partial defect: Basic functions are present, but the exposure meter is defective.
- Defect: Not functional – suitable as decoration or spare parts donor.
